I love those moments when your plans change somehow and it leads you to something new and unexpected.

Strolling around in my old neighbourhood I was surprised by heavy rain. Right then this café „QUÀ PHÊ“ appeared and I decided to find shelter in it.

Instantly I felt comfortable. The interior is original vietnamese. The lamp shades for example are made from local baskets that are used to catch the chicken. I recognized that they also served real meals not just coffee. By then it was lunchtime and I was in fact a bit hungry.

On the menue were not the usual vietnamese courses. They have Ban Bao (steamed buns), xôi (sticky rice) or pho cuon (salty rice crepes) as savory dish. I went for a xôi with meat, mungo beans and roast onions plus a vietnamese coffee. (I know all not really paleo, but I was still recovering from a little illness and I needed those treats)

I chose one of the little tables at the window. Next to me some good magazines and I opted for „Fräulein“. The server brought me my coffee: a glas filled with quite a bit of condensed milk and on top a little coffee filter from which the freshly brewed coffee dripped on top of the white gold. It looked good and it tasted even better. But before enjoying this piece of delight I was eating my sticky rice. It was tasty, but I couldn’t finish it all because it was really saturating. I think this would be better as a little appetizer. Besides that I was missing the fresh note. But I don’t want to complain, I got what was on the menu.

After fulfilling this need for food I layed back and started to read „Fräulein“, sipping on this wonderfully smelling little coffee. Once a while I looked up to observe the other guests, but all were really relaxed so that I really stayed tuned until I had read the whole magazine. Filled with inspiring reports on astonishing women but mixed up with some fashion and culture at the same time.

The Fräulein magazine about itself: Fräulein speaks for strong and self-confident women, that have both feet firmly on the ground and who are always charming and never boring. Intelligent, classy and experienced women, who know what they want and who set value on the subtle distinctions.
